What appears random and unrelated , Elliott said , will actually trace out a recognizable pattern once you learn what to look for.
Elliott called his discovery " Elliott wave principle" and its implications were huge. he had identified the common link that drives the trends in human affairs, from financial markets to fashion , from politics to popular culture.

Robert Prechter, Jr., president of Elliott Wave International, resurrected the Wave Principle from near obscurity in 1976 when he discovered the body of RN Elliott's work in libraries in New York. Robert Prechter, Jr. and A.J. Frost published Elliott Wave Principle in 1978. The book received enthusiastic reviews and became a bestseller Wall Street. The Elliott Wave Principle, Prechter and Frost's forecast called for a roaring bull market in 1980, to be followed by a record bear market. Needless to say, knowledge of the Wave Principle among private and professional investors grew dramatically in 1980.

When investors and traders first discover the Elliott Wave Principle, there are several reactions:

* Disbelief - that markets are patterned and largely predictable by technical analysis alone
* Merry "irrational exuberance" - at having found a "crystal ball" to predict future
* Lastly accurate, and useful response - ". Oh, here's an important new tool to learn to use"

Just like any system or structure found in nature, the closer you look at the waves, the more structured complexity you see. It is structured, because nature patterns build on themselves, creating similar forms at progressively larger sizes. You can see these fractal patterns in botany, geography, physiology, and the things humans create, like roads, residential subdivisions ... and - as recent discoveries have confirmed - in market prices.

Natural systems, including Elliott wave in market charts, "grow" over time, and their forms are defined by interruptions to that growth.

Here is what is meant by that. When your hands up in the womb, they first looked like round paddles growing equally in all directions. Then, in the places between your fingers, cells ceased growing or died, and growth is directed by five digits. This structured progress and regress is essential to all forms of growth. That this "marks growth" appears in market data is only natural - as Robert Prechter, Jr., the world's foremost Elliott wave expert and president of Elliott Wave International, says: "All that rests must have problems."

Basic Elliott Wave Pattern The first step in Elliott wave analysis is identifying patterns in market prices. At their core, waves are simple: there are only two of them: "impulse waves and corrective waves."

Impulse waves are composed of five sub-waves and move in the same direction as the trend of the next larger size (labeled as 1, 2, 3, 4, 5). Impulse waves are called so because they powerfully impel the market.

A corrective wave follows, composed of three sub-waves and move in relation to the trend of the next larger size (labeled as A, B, C). Corrective waves accomplish only a partial retracement, or "correction" of the progress achieved by any preceding impulse wave.

As the image on the above shows, one complete Elliott wave consists of eight waves and two phases: five-wave impulse phase, whose sub-waves are denoted by numbers, and three-wave corrective phase, whose sub-waves are denoted by letters .

What R.N. Elliott set out to describe using the Elliott wave principle is how the market actually applies. There are a number of specific variations on the basic theme, which Elliott meticulously described and illustrated. He also noted that an important fact that each model has distinctive needs and trends. From these observations, he was able to formulate numerous rules and guidelines for proper wave identification. A thorough knowledge of such details is necessary to understand what the markets can do, and at least as important, what not to do.

You have just begun to learn the power and complexity of the Elliott wave principle. Developed in the 1920s by Ralph Nelson Elliott as a method for predicting trends in the stock market. the Elliott wave theory applies fractal mathematics to movements in the market to make predictions based on crowd behavior. In its essence, the Elliot Wave theory is that the market - in this case, the forex market - moves in a series of 5 swings upward and 3 swings back down, repeated continuously. But if you are so simple, everyone would be doing the catching and killing of riding the wave until just before it crashed ashore. Obviously, there is much more to it.

Elliott Wave Basics

One of the things that makes riding the Elliot Wave so tricky is timing - of all the major wave theories, it is the only one who does not put a time limit on the reactions and rebounds of the market.
One fact clearly math theories include that there are more waves within waves in waves.
Interpretation of data and finding the right curves and crests is tricky process, leading to a claim that can be paragraph 20 experts Elliott Wave theory in one room and they will never reach agreement on how the actions - or in this case the currency - is headed.

Elliott Wave Basics

· Every action is followed by reaction.

It is a standard rule of physics that apply to the behavior of people based on Elliott wave theory. If prices drop, people will buy. When people buy, the demand increases and supply decreases driving prices back. Nearly every system that uses trend analysis to predict movements in the foreign exchange market is based on determining when those actions will cause reactions that make trade profitable.

· There five waves in the direction of the trend followed by three corrective waves (a "5-3" move).

The Elliott wave theory is that market activity can be predicted as a series of five waves that move in one direction (the trend) followed by three 'corrective' waves that move the market back to its starting point.

5-3 · A move complete a cycle.

And here is where the theory begins to get really complex. Like a mirror reflecting a mirror that reflects a mirror that reflects a mirror, each 5-3 wave is not only complete in itself, it is superset of smaller series of waves, and a subset of a larger group of 5-3 waves - following principle.

· This 5-3 move then becomes two subdivisions of the next higher 5-3 wave.

In Elliott wave notation, the 5 waves that fit the trend are labeled 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 (impulses). The three correcting waves are called a, b and c (corrections). Each of these waves is made up of 5-3 series of waves, each of those consisting of 5-3 series of waves. The 5-3 cycle that you're studying is an impulse and correction in the next ascending 5-3 series.

· The underlying 5-3 pattern remains constant, although the time span of each may vary.

A 5-3 wave may take decades to complete - or it may be more than a few minutes. Traders who are successful in using the Elliot Wavy theory to trade in the currency market say that the trick is timing trades to coincide with the beginning and end of impulse 3 to minimize risk and maximize profits.

Because the timing of each sequence of waves varies so much, using the Elliott Wave theory is very much a matter of interpretation. Identifying the best time to enter and leave the trade depends on whether you are able to see and follow the pattern of larger and smaller waves, and know when to trade and when to perform based on the models to identified.

The key is in interpreting the pattern correctly - in finding the right starting point. Once you learn to see the wave and identify them correctly, say those who are not experts, you'll see how they behave in every aspect of forex trading, and will be able to use those patterns to trigger your decisions without Whether you're day trading or in it for the long haul.

Previous Post

Exiting at the end of Secondary Impulse Waves
Exit the market at the end of the secondary impulse waves (waves three and five) of large waves impulse is high-reward strategy to exit because your exit comes after prices have already completed a move towards greater trend and are willing to correct.

Entering the end of Secondary Corrective Waves
Because of the potential complexity of the corrective wave is best to confirm their end by means of other technical analysis tools.

Elliott Wave Trading Plan
you should enter the market confirmed the termination of secondary waves of a corrective impulse or corrective wave. You can use any of the following tools to confirm the completion of the impulse wave 1) and Fibonacci price projections Channel (described below), 3) oscillator and divergencies Candlestick signals, 4) Trendline or Moving Average breakouts. The best output signals are given when completion of the secondary impulse wave is confirmed by the completion of its tiny fifth impulse wave (for example, go out on the fifth of the fifth).

Fibonacci projections. You can use Fibonacci levels to project the end of wave three and five in the series momentum. If the third wave is stretching it needs to move a distance equal to the amount of the first wave or impulse multiplied by 1.618 and 2.618 (as projected by the end of wave 2). If it does not affect the need to move a distance equal to the amplitude of the wave one (but not less). You can calculate the possible end of the five wave by multiplying the height of a wave of 1.618 and projecting the outcome of the end of a wave. When the third wave is completed we can calculate the second price target for the fifth wave. To do this is multiplied by the amount of all three waves (from the start of wave 1 to the end of wave 3) with 0.618 and project the result from the end of wave three (you'll need to use the ratio of 1.618 instead of 0.618 if the fifth wave stretching). Detailed price targets calculated by different methods to each other the more likely the price reversal occurred between them.

Note: You can use our interactive Fibonacci Calculator (Note: This calculator requires a Javascript-enabled is enabled in your browser), located in the section Forex Analysis, to calculate the likely end of wave three and five in the impulse sequnce (with using guidelines given above).

Price Channel projections. Price channels can also be used to confirm the end of the third and fifth waves in an impulse sequence. To project the end of wave three draw Trendline, by the beginning of a wave and the end of wave two, and then continue along Trendline from the end of a wave. The third wave should finish close to the parallel Trendline (or slightly above or below or at the same level).

To project the end of wave 5 ends draw Trendline through the waves 2 and 4 (also called primary), then draw two parallel trendlines by the end of wave 1 and 3. The fifth wave should finish close to one of these parallel trendlines: near the channel line drawn from the end of the 3rd wave if it extends and near the channel line drawn from the end of wave 1 if not extended. You can increase the accuracy of the fifth wave projection of a higher impulse wave building a similar price channels for its fifth subwaves one or two degrees lower. Detailed fifth wave targets derived from different degree channels more likely to complete the entire momentum range in this area. The decisive break from the baseline (collected by end of waves 2 and 4 or through the start of wave 1 and the end of wave 4) is the latest signal that the impulse wave is completed.

Previous Post

Entering the end of Secondary Corrective Waves
Entering the market at the end of secondary corrective waves (waves two and four) waves of the main impulse is a low risk entry strategy for your entry comes after prices have already corrected and are ready to move in the direction of the larger trend.

Elliott Wave Trading Plan
You can make the most of these advantages of Elliott wave analysis by entering and exiting the top end of the secondary impulse waves of the main impulse or corrective waves. An example of an entry strategy using small waves - is to open a place at the beginning of the third wave of the third intermediate small impulse impulse wave, which is also called the third entry in third place. An example of an exit strategy using small waves - is to close the position at the end of the fifth wave of impulse minor fifth secondary impulse wave, which is also known as the fifth out of fifth place. When the secondary wave a big wave of momentum the last small waves in this medium wave is called the fifth of the fifth of fifth place. Impulse waves are always unfold in the same direction as the larger trend - the next higher level impulse or corrective wave.
Waves 1.3 and 5 within a momentum impulse waves themselves at a lower level which should also divide in a five-wave pattern.
One of waves in impulse within the impulse wave will usually be extended or much longer than the other two. Most establishments in foreign exchange markets appear in three waves. When one of the impulse waves extends to the other two will usually be of equal size. Waves 2 and 4 within an impulse waves are corrective waves. Once the impulse wave is completed it will be followed by a corrective wave. Impulse wave is always followed by a corrective wave of the same degree, unless the impulse wave completes a higher degree wave.

Ideal Impulse Wave

impulse waves in Elliott wave principle

There are three rules that should hold true for impulse wave to be valid if: 1) the two wave can not move past the start of a wave, 2) three wave may not be the shortest impulse wave of three waves (1.3 , 5) and 3) four-wave can not move past the end of a wave. If any of these rules is violated should try a different wave count. In some cases wave numbers can still be considered valid if currencyprices violate any of the above rules, but not on closing basis.

Rules impulse wave

impulse wave rules

Previous Post

Ideal Elliott wave pattern
Elliott wave principle is based on the fact that prices usually move in grades waves in the direction of the larger trend in three waves against it.

Facts About Forex Elliott Wave
There are several advantages of the theory, basically they boil down to compactness and organization contributes to the chaotic pattern of the price.

Advanced Impulse Waves
The last 3-wave pattern is called corrective waves.

Ideal Elliott wave pattern

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 307px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_a_LB2xU-1xI/TTFa0JLUizI/AAAAAAAAAEo/_S9LoOjhb28/s320/elliott%2Bwave.GIF" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5562326866642373426" />
Ideal Elliott wave pattern

Elliott wave principle is based on the fact that prices usually move in grades waves in the direction of the larger trend in three waves against it.
The trend is up five-wave advance followed by a three wave decline, down trend five wave decline will be followed by a three-wave advance.
Five-band called impulse waves, three waves are called corrective waves.

Elliott waves appear on all sorts of schemes, ranging from one month to one minute charts. Each wave is formed from waves of lesser degree and is also part of a higher wave. When using the Elliott Waves of foreign currency is best to take into account waves of only three degrees: minor (fully visible on the 15-minute charts), intermediate (fully visible on the hourly charts) and large waves (fully visible on Daily charts). High waves will be formed by small waves and big waves will be formed by high waves. In general, use a impulse or corrective waves to determine the long-term market direction, enter your craft on top of them and onto the end of the secondary impulse waves from large waves - using small waves of high waves for timing your trades. Specifically, if you want to trade an hour waves need to use daily waves to determine the direction of the prevailing trend and 15-minute waves for timing your trade entries and exits.

Ideal wave pattern

basic Elliott wave pattern

The relationship between Small, Medium and Major Waves

relationship between small medium large wave Elliott wave principle

Note: The reason the waves of varying degrees of currency market tend to follow the same principles of construction may be because the same psychological forces governing the behavior of different groups of market participants - each of which operate on different time horizon than others ( such short-term traders involved in the creation of more small waves, while long-term investors are the main shapers of big waves). This makes it important to stay alert for those times when waves of different degree completed in the same currency price level - because many market participants will be carefully watching.

Elliott wave principle works best on the market with the largest public following. The FOREX market as a result of its enormous size, liquidity and diversity of participants often shows clear waves that can be used to take advantage of the trader - providing him or her with high-reward/low-risk, high probability access points in accordance with the prevailing trend. The usefulness of Elliott wave analysis for the forex trader is also highlighted by the fact that the major waves of foreign exchange markets are usually developed in close correspondence with interest rate cycles for specific currency pairs that he or she is trading. Potentially profitable Elliott wave setup occurs 50% of the time the foreign exchange market making important for forex traders to be at least aware of the basic principles of recognizing them.

Quote: "forex market is so extremely volatile, so for any trading method to survive long, he must be able to accurately measure profit goals against expected losses, while at the same time, a method must also be able to define the time parameters in which the craft is to be held ... the Elliott Wave Principle can run this multifaceted task admirably, "Robert Balan, in his book," the Elliott wave principle of the foreign exchange markets. This hierarchy gives more precision in huge trading decisions, widens the horizon one by expanding the scope beyond the uncertainty of the market and increase the confidence of the people.

These advantages lead to the formulation probably some advanced and sophisticated strategies to predict and estimate what might happen in the future. At least with Elliott wave forex indicator, a trader could have a vague idea of what the market might turn into. While being able to provide several advantages, the theory is used to transfer several disadvantages as well.

Probably one of the main weaknesses of the Elliott wave theory is arbitrariness. It is not likely to have more people who perform the same analysis of the chart pattern and come up with similar conclusions or offer similar results. Without doubt, it is almost impossible to have a large group of traders achieve common consensus so probably the indicator is able to help everyone, only those who can implement the correct interpretation and execution of correct decisions. Possibly, this is caused by fluid and intuitive formulation of the theory itself as it is not universally conclude concept.

The simpler explanation, forex Elliott Wave indicator is subjected to the possibility of being wrong. The market may appear to repeat some cycles on the basis of visual analysis or past history, but the actual result may be a whole rainbow of different model variations that have little or nothing to do with the estimated fluctuations as well. Actually it is a useful theory to have an organized plan for the market, but the predictive power that can not be sure how you can consider.

Previous Post

Advanced Impulse Waves
Elliott showed that trending market moves in what he calls 5-3 wave pattern.

ABC Correction
Letters are used instead of numbers to track the correction.

Elliott Wave Label
Always remember that each wave is composed of smaller waves. It's easier if you look like a picture:

Elliott wave black and white

That still looks kind of confusing. Come splash some color on this bad boy.
Elliott Wave color

Here's a brief description of what happens during each wave.

We will use reserves for our example, because the stocks are what Mr. Elliott used, but it really does not matter what it is. It can easily be currencies, bonds, gold, oil, or Tickle Me Elmo dolls. It is the Elliott wave theory, can also be applied to the foreign exchange market.

Wave 1
The state makes its initial move upwards. This is usually caused by a relatively small number of people all at once (for different reasons, real or imagined) feel that the price of the stock is cheap, so it is the perfect time to buy. This causes the price to rise.

Wave 2
At this point, enough people who were in the original wave consider the stock overvalued and take profits. This causes the stock to go down. However, the action will not do in previous lows before the action is considered a bargain again.

Wave 3
This is usually the longest and strongest wave. The situation has caught the attention of the public mass. More people to learn about stocks and want to buy. This causes the price of the stock to go higher and higher. This wave usually exceeds the high created by the end of wave first

Wave 4
Traders take profits because the stock is considered expensive again. This wave tends to be weak because there are usually people who are still bullish on stocks and waiting to "buy the dips."

Wave 5
This is the point that most people are on stock and usually driven by hysteria. You usually start seeing the CEO of the company on the front page of major magazines such as Person of the Year. Traders and investors start coming up with ridiculous reasons to buy the stock and try to choke you when you disagree with them. This is when the stock becomes the most overpriced. Contrarians start shorting the stock, which begins on ABC model.

Advanced Impulse Waves

One thing you also need to know about the Elliott Wave theory is that one of the three impulse waves (1, 3 or 5) will always be "extended". Simply put, there will always be a wave is longer than the other two, regardless of the degree.

According to Elliott, it is usually the fifth wave is extended. As time passed, this old-school style wave labeling has changed because more and more people started labeling the third wave as extended.

Previous Post

ABC Correction
The 5-wave trends are then corrected and reversed by 3-wave countertrends.

Elliott Wave Label
Do you see how Waves 1, 3 and 5 are composed of smaller 5-wave impulse pattern while waves 2 and 4 are composed of smaller 3-wave corrective pattern?

Elliott Wave flat example
Elliott Wave flat entrance. Great work for Elliott Wave is to not have to be above the legal drinking age to trade! You should get a fake ID or memorize all 21 types of ABC corrective patterns, because they are only composed of three very simple easy to understand formations.

Let's look at these three formations. The examples below refer to uptrends, but can simply invert if you're dealing with a downtrend.

Zig-zag formation

Zig-zag formations are very steep in price ranges that goes against the dominant trend. Wave B is typically the shortest in length compared to the A and C waves. These zig-zag patterns can occur twice or even three times in a correction (2 to 3 zig-zag patterns linked together). As with all waves, each wave in the zig-zag patterns could be terminated in 5 waves.

Flat formation

Apartment formations are simple sideways corrective waves. In housing, the length of the waves are equal in length, the wave B reverse wave ranges and wave C undoing B wave is moving. We say generally, because the wave B can sometimes go beyond the beginning of A. wave

Triangle formation

Triangle formations are corrective patterns that are bound by any differences or convergence trend lines. Triangles are composed of 5 waves, which move in relation to trend sideways fashion. These triangles can be symmetrical, descending, ascending, or expansion.

Previous Post

Elliott Wave Label
As mentioned earlier, Elliot waves Fractals. Elliott wave count
In order to find a good entry, will head back to the Faculty of Pipsology to know which of the three cardinal rules and guidelines that can be applied. Here's what I found:

* Rule 2: 2 wave can never go beyond the beginning of a wave
* Waves 2 and 4 often bounce off Fibonacci retracement levels

So, using your superior Elliott waving trading skillz, may decide to pop the Fibonacci tool to see if the price is at a level unheard of. Holy Mother! The price is just chillin 'like ice cream FILLIN "about 50% level. Hmm, this could be the beginning of the 3 wave, which is very strong buy signal.

Elliott Wave Input

Since you're a smart trader, also take into account stop.

Cardinal rule number 2 states that wave 2 can never go beyond the beginning of wave 1 Thus to set your stop under the former lows.

If the price recovers more than 100% of wave 1, then your wave count is wrong.

Elliott wave 3

Your Elliott wave analysis paid off and you catch a huge move up! You go to Vegas (or Macao), kick all the profits of roulette, and end right back where you started.
